Cheesy Sausage Balls

These cheesy sausage balls are a guaranteed hit among your guests during the festive holiday season. The best part about this delicious appetizer? You'll be amazed to know that with just three simple ingredients, you can easily whip up a batch that will have everyone coming back for more. All you need is 1lb of regular or hot sausage, 1lb of sharp shredded cheddar cheese, and 2 cups of Bisquick.

I am a big wimp when it comes to super spicy things, so I made these with regular sausage. However, you can cut the spicy sausage in half with regular if you want a little spice. This way, the hint of spice will perfectly balance the flavors, creating the best of both worlds. So go ahead and customize these to your liking, knowing that you have the power to adjust the level of heat to suit your individual preferences. Whether you prefer a more mild flavor or want to crank up the heat, these sausage balls work as a blank canvas, allowing you to experiment and create a culinary masterpiece.

The first thing you will need to do is combine the sausage and cheese together in a large bowl. This step is crucial to ensure that the flavors meld together perfectly. The easiest way to combine the two is to use a meat masher, as it quickly breaks down the sausage and ensures even distribution of the cheese throughout. However, if you don't have a meat masher on hand, fear not! Two forks or clean hands can also do the trick. :) Just make sure to put a little extra elbow grease into the mixing process to ensure that the sausage and cheese are thoroughly integrated. Trust me, the extra effort will pay off once you take that first bite.

Next, after adding the Bisquick to the mixture and combining it thoroughly to ensure all the ingredients are well incorporated, form the mixture into bite-sized sausage balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Arrange on a sheet pan, ensuring they have enough space to bake evenly. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake sausage balls for approximately 15 to 18 minutes, until their exterior turns a delightful shade of golden brown. To ensure even cooking, remember to flip the sausage balls halfway through the baking process. Finally, as they reach their pinnacle of perfection, remove the sheet pan from the oven, and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

I hope you enjoy this delicious appetizer at your next holiday soiree! They are the perfect bite-sized treats that will leave your guests wanting more.
