Ooey Gooey Classic Chess Bars
This classic chess bar recipe was handed down to me by my mother and let me tell you— they are SO addicting! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Ingredients:
For the base:
1 (15.25 oz) box yellow cake mix
½ cup softened, unsalted butter
1 large egg, beaten
For the Ooey Gooey Layer:
1lb box confectioners’ sugar
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the base ingredients. Using a spoon, press the base into a greased 9x13” baking dish.
In another large mixing bowl, combine the confectioners’ sugar, cream cheese, vanilla, and eggs. Pour and spread the ooey gooey layer over the base.
Bake at 350° for 35 minutes until golden brown. Allow bars to cool on a wire rack for about 1 hour. Cut into squares and enjoy!
