No Fuss Pie Crust
This recipe is a staple in my kitchen! I use it for every pie recipe. Several pie crust recipes call for shortening, but I like to use butter. I just love the flavor that butter gives, and it creates a perfect tender crumb. When it comes to preparing the crust, I rely on my trusty Black & Decker 8-cup Food Processor. It effortlessly blends the flour, butter, and other ingredients to create a smooth and consistent dough. Of course, you're more than welcome to use a pastry cutter if you prefer a hands-on approach. However, I find that the food processor makes everything so fast and easy, allowing me to whip up a delicious pie crust in no time. With this recipe, every pie I make turns out to be a crowd-pleaser.
No Fuss Pie Crust
Ingredients
2 & ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, chilled & cubed
1 tablespoon sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons ice-cold water
Instructions
Cut the chilled butter into ½” cubes.
In a food processor, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter gradually and pulse after each addition.
Using one tablespoon at a time, slowly pour ice water into the food processor until moist clumps form.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently work into a uniform dough.
Spray a pie dish with nonstick spray. Roll out the dough to fit the pie dish of your choice and transfer. Work pie dough into the dish and prick with a fork.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
*If you are making an additional batch for a top crust, form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.*
