Homemade Strawberry Vanilla Ice Cream
Beat the hot summer days with this delicious, classic strawberry vanilla ice cream!
Remember when you were a kid, and an adult would give you 2 plastic bags, rock salt, and ingredients for basic vanilla ice cream and tell you to shake it for what felt like an eternity? That was the only way I knew to make homemade ice cream!
I got an ice cream maker attachment for Christmas last year, and we’re finally getting to put it to good use! (No shaking required. haha) I used the KitchenAid 8-Quart Ice Cream Maker Attachment — you can also find a link to it and more suggested kitchen essentials under my shop tab! The most difficult part about this recipe would definitely be the waiting part; however, it is SO worth the wait! Also, this recipe makes up a ton, so you can freeze and save for later.
You will need:
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups half & half
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 & ½ cups diced strawberries
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the heavy whipping cream, half & half, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract together.
Assemble the ice cream maker as directed and churn for approximately 30 minutes. (ice cream will be soft-serve texture)
After 30 minutes of churning, fold the diced strawberries into the ice cream. Pour the ice cream into a 2.5-quart container, cover, and freeze for 4 hours to harden.
After freezing, scoop into a sugar cone and enjoy!
