Front Porch Reveal!

It’s finally complete! After working for 4 weeks, we have finally reached the end of this fun spring project.

When Eric and I first moved into our home, my first mission was to make it feel more homey. To me, a home is not a home to me without a garden! I guess you could say it is in my DNA. My grandmother loves her flowers, and there’s no question that I share the same zeal.

When planning what I wanted to plant in our front yard, I chose mostly perennials because they come back year after year, with a larger and more beautiful bloom. At the corner of our front porch, I wanted guests to be greeted with beautiful, fragrant flowers! As you can see in the before and after, there was a very bare spot in the corner of the bed. I planted three large lavender plants and an additional Red Knock Out Rose to go alongside the other two existing rose bushes. This really filled up the bare space and added lovely pops of color to the front porch.

Before

Coming from our tiny apartment in Middle TN, we didn’t have much outdoor furniture or décor! The two chairs and welcome rug were pretty much it.

After

I added a topiary in an adorable white planter and an asparagus fern (gifted by my grandmother) around our front door. We also purchased a small square table to go between the chairs and embellished it with purple and white pansies. Lastly, we adorned the porch with lush hanging baskets, which really brought the porch to life!

Before

Last but certainly not least, let’s talk about these Nandina Bushes. When we first moved in, there were very patchy areas in the landscaping. Not that it looked bad, BUT you know my plant-loving heart just couldn’t take it! They were also in desperate need of a trim after the hard winter.

After

We moved an awkwardly-placed Nandina Bush that was covering up the lovely rose bushes and added a couple of extra Boxwood Shrubs in between to fill up the bare spots. The Nandina Bushes also got a good trim, which made them appear more lively and full, and the roses are officially in full bloom! If you squint a little, you can even see the beautiful Yellow Evening Primroses my grandmother gave me!

A home is definitely always a work in progress, but I was so excited to share this little reveal with you! Gardening is a huge passion of mine, and I was so pleased with the end result. I hope you enjoyed this post and are feeling a little inspired to get outdoors and try gardening some, too!
